James has been DJing for several years, having worked on London pirate stations Lush FM & Flex FM, & in A&R for London’s influential 679 Records & Warner Brothers/WEA. He is currently resident at The Kingly Club, in London’s Carnaby Street.
..STEPHE PAST & PRESENT..
Stephe has a long background as a session musician, programmer & producer, working with some of the UK’s top Black artists on a wide range of released material. His programming & playing can be heard on the album "The Lick" by British Rap Band Definition Of Sound as well as two singles taken from the same album - "What R U Under" & "Can I Get Over", the former featuring in the Wesley Snipes movie "Sugar Hill". His keyboard & guitar work has graced remixes of artists including Duran Duran ("Love Voodoo") & The Soup Dragons ("Divine Thing"). He played keyboards with singer Nicki French for the UK promotion of her worldwide hit "Total Eclipse of the Heart" (including two appearances on UK chart show Top of the Pops) & performed in the globally released video promo of the same track. Other acts Stephe has worked with include Jazz/Dance diva Juliet Roberts, British Lovers-Rock singer/songwriter Carroll Thompson, RnB Soul Diva Claudia Patrice (Boompcious/ X Blind Date), Ugandan Gospel vocal group Limit X, British RnB act 4Mandu, Street-Soul singer Jane Eugene (X Loose Ends), Freestylers mastermind Aston Harvey, producer/singer J D Braithwaite (X Total Contrast/ Tongue N Cheek), producer John Springate (X Glitter Band/ producer Total Eclipse Of The Heart), producer Phil Edwards (X Paradise/ MD to East 17/ Eternal/ producer to 4Mandu), Sony Columbia signing Elaine Vassell (X Free Spirit), upcoming British singer/songwriter Paula Clarke (We Will Rock You/ Lynden David Hall/ X Dave Stewart/ C J Lewis), Maurey Richards (Ray Charles / Starlight Express / X Platters), UK Jazz/Soul songwriter & producer Michael McKenzie & singer/songwriter Elaine Girard. Stephe had a critically well-received single release on the UK Garage underground under his production name 451 with DJ NickleBee (‘InterFunk’ & ‘Vibin'’). 451 tracks have been well received on the Internet, notably achieving over 30,000 downloads/streams on Vitaminic as well as number 7 in their most downloaded tracks for ‘InterFunk’. The tracks also reached numbers 7, 8 & 9 in the Peoplesound UK Garage top 20. In 2003 Stephe released a bootleg version of Janet Jackson’s “Someone 2 Call My Lover” with underground Garage Producer Linx on DJ Lisa Unique’s label Unique Kutz. Summer 2003 saw 451’s track ‘Give U Love' released on an Ayia Napa themed compilation CD by the Daily Star. UK distribution was 750,000 units.
